- I was on Jocelyn Glei's new podcast, Hurry Slowly, and we talked about analog vs. digital tools, the beauty of constraints, and how slowing down can make your work better.
- The tension between creativity and productivity.
- How to remember what you read.
- People matching artworks.
- Eye candy: Ralph Steadman draws Kurt Andersen. I could watch him draw all day. Here he is in his studio. (If you like those links, check out the documentary about him, For No Good Reason.)
- Ear candy: listening to a lot of William Onyeabor and this Nigeria 70 compilation.
- Celebrities pick their favorite books of 2017. I was chuffed that actor Jason Segel put Steal Like An Artist on his list, saying, "You can flip through this book in 30 min and be inspired by it for weeks." Dang, man! That's a blurb. (I'm a huge fan of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, btw.)
- Another great romantic comedy: my wife and I re-watched When Harry Met Sally. What a delightful movie. Here's 15 fun facts about it, and a discussion between Nora Ephron and Rob Reiner.
- Favorite posts from this week's blogging: a crowdfunding platform for shutting people up, Jesus next door, art monsters, and Thoreau, first books, and failure.
